Section of Respirology - Recruitment
The Section of Respirology at the University of Calgary and the Calgary Health Region are recruiting faculty at all levels. Applications for full-time and part-time academic positions will be accepted at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor level.
The Section of Respirology at the University of Calgary and the Calgary Health Region is currently based at three major teaching hospitals, and is looking to expand to a fourth teaching hospital that will be opening in 2011.
Targeted areas of recruitment include:
- Sleep Medicine
- Non-tuberculous mycobacterium tuberculosis
- Neuromuscular diseases
- Non invasive ventilation
- Lung transplantation
- Cystic fibrosis and pulmonary infections
- Occupational and Environmental Medicine
- COPD and rehabilitation
- Interstitial lung diseases
A significant academic interest in any of these areas is a major asset.
The Calgary Heath Region serves 1.5 M residents of Southern Alberta, South Eastern British Columbia and South Eastern Saskatchewan. The Department provides academic and clinical services in an integrated manner across all of the hospital sites and in several ambulatory care settings. Calgary is a vibrant city (population 1,000,000) situated near the Rocky Mountains, Banff National Park and Lake Louise. Besides a wonderful family environment, Alberta and Calgary have low tax structures and costs of living. Compensation is via an alternate relationship plan.
Qualifications include a MD or equivalent, sub-specialty accreditation or certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, a proven record of academic interest, and eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta.
